Last year Danish design brand &Tradition moved from their previous home on Papirøen (sadly knocked down now) to the ever impressive townhouse in central Copenhagen. What has been proposed for Papirøen is a new water park and culture centre (read more for info) Though &Tradition had to move location, this was a blessing in disguise as the townhouse is something pretty special.

On entering the gates &Tradition have created a wonderfully inviting courtyard and café. On the day that I took these pictures it was quite moody weather. I’ll cover the courtyard design on a sunnier day. I did have a meeting inside the café which is stunning, this part is open to the public and I encourage everyone to visit. The food is wonderful and you have the chance to test out the furniture and see it all up close.

Following on from the café area the townhouse is then used as office, studio, gallery and showroom space. The townhouse is massive! The space, like many other showrooms, changes from time to time. So visiting it again after 6 months was refreshing. The new products and styling are always fascinating to see.

Established in 2010 &Tradition have developed ranges from modern designers such as Jamie Hayon, Space Copenhagen, Studio Vitt, the list goes on. Alongside the modern pieces are timeless classics from 1930’s including Arne Jacobsen, Viggo Boesen, Verner Panton among many. What is impressive is that the designs all have that &Tradition signature style. You might agree with me, it’s a pretty nice place!
