Carl Hansen & Søn’s indoor/outdoor collection – with design classics

Carl Hansen & Søn's indoor/outdoor collection - with design classics

Dreaming of long summer days? I am. Sit me on a lounger in the shade and I’ll be happy.

This year Carl Hansen & Son have introduced an outdoor range and another for next year, exciting! As the company are primarily known for indoor furniture with the likes of CH24 Wishbone chair designed by Hans Wegner, it feels like an exciting to include patio and garden furniture to the product portfolio.

The Architectural indoor/outdoor series designed by Bodil Kjær

Famous for her architectural and product designs from the late 50’s to this day. Bodil Kjær has a way of designing that I love. She focuses on how to construct furniture from a technical perspective, from the inside out.
With architectural training and having studied under masters of Danish design, Finn Juhl and Jørgen Ditzel, her work is impeccably designed. Functionality, modernism and technicality at the forefront. Yes, yes, yes.

The indoor/outdoor series was designed in 1959, six decades on it’s found a home with Carl Hansen & Son. A stunningly high quality range inspired by Cubist forms and modern architecture. Made from solid teak making it durable for the outdoors.

Deck chair series designed by Børge Mogensen (launching 2020)

Børge Mogensen, known as the ‘people’s designer’, designing high quality furniture within people’s reach. He believed in minimal decoration (yes to that) and democratic design.

The Deck chair series was designed in the late 1960’s for Børge Mogensen’s own balcony. It will be launched in 2020 and produced by Carl Hansen &Son. The range was designed for comfort and space saving. It can be folded flat and hung on the wall. Such a great space saving idea that is quite necessary in today’s living spaces.

Made from un treated FSC®-certified teak the pieces are durable and suitable for changing weather. I look forward to seeing these when they officially launch, happy to share the preview!
