Trend : Botanical

Botanical prints are probably one of this years biggest trends and currently becoming my latest obsession.  Nature becomes a hot trend each year from the start of spring onwards,which generally reflects on our enthusiasm for new life, crops, plant life, new beginnings, natural growth etc.

Last year we did see the beginnings of the botanical trend in some digitally printed/repeat pattern ways. However this year the botanical trend comfortably sits along side the everlasting industrial trend, with vintage school prints, indoor hanging plant pots and illustration. This juxtaposition of the heavy industrial and delicate plant life soften the home, making for a tactile design with an essence of history and age.

If you haven’t seen these already, expect to find vintage school charts everywhere. There are many replications out there that do look great but if you find an original cloth backed chart then bag it quick! or buy it for me, ha!

Botanical prints are also paving their way to the catwalk, my latest fav prints are these from Danish fashion brand Ganni and House of Hackney.
