Design hotels Exploring Scandinavia Sweden

Hobo, Stockholm’s fun, young boutique hotel

Back in April I took a trip to Stockholm and stayed in the newly opened Hobo hotel. This was part of my trip where I also reviewed Hotel At Six.  Which is actually next door to Hobo and are sister companies. So after spending a few nights in the super luxury hotel At Six, I wondered how I’d fear in their cheaper, younger establishment…….

Needless to say the design style was a sharp contrast to Hotel At Six, not lacking in style or quality, just a different energy completely. Designer furniture and lighting are mixed among tribal style rugs, botanical greenery and artful illustrations. The hotel instantly feels easygoing, happy and inviting.

Designed by award winning Berlin based designer Werner Aisslinger, the hotel has an energetic youthful and stylish aesthetic. “At Hobo we are uniting the hyper urban brutalism of Brunkebergstorg with a feeling of freedom and easiness like traveling throughout continents in a vintage VW camper and preparing food at a camp fire. Award-winning Berlin based designer Werner Aisslinger has created the looks and feels of a hotel for guests who love the adventure of traveling; experiencing pure materials, nature, community, music and good talks.”

I love this idea of concealing cables with large wooden beads and blocks.

The bar and lounge are on both the ground and first floor, plenty of room to hang out. The overall design is neutral with loud pops of colour. Overlapping layers of natural leather soften the bar area, creating a beautiful texture.

The rooms are quite small but cleverly designed with kingsize Anders Hilding bed (so comfy) and metal framed bedhead to hand lighting, books and bedhead cushions. It was quite youthful in style to match the fun feel of the hotel.

A peg board either side of the bed. There are products hung on the board where you can borrow are or buy them if you choose. Plus a handy map of the city with Hobo’s recommended places to visit. Interestingly there’s no phone in the room, I mean who uses their house phone anymore? Instead Hobo give you their mobile number and you can text them if there’s anything you need. Cool eh?!

This hotel feels like a new wave of design hotels. Modern, forward thinking, comfortable, design focussed and fun, it gets the thumbs up from me.

This looks like exactly the type of place I would love to stay in. Much better than the hostals I usually crash in. So taking note for my next holiday

Oh I love the look of this! All those plants are just so lush and I adore the idea of the beads covering the cables – I may have to steal that idea! xxx
