Northmodern showcased a cool new collaboration with internationally acclaimed Danish architects to ‘REFORM’ your IKEA kitchen. IKEA hacking has becoming something of a cool new trend but when I saw that Bjarke Ingels Group, Norm Architects and Henning Larsen Architects had designed a kitchen collection and concept available and easy to buy, I was so excited!
BASIS DESIGN 01 and 02 designed by the Reform in-house design team
Basis 01 is inspired by 60’s scandinavian architects kitchens with a milled circular handle with contrasting painted surfaces against oak, available with a VERY cool and retro looking Conifer linoleum worktop top. Basis 02 is more of a streamlined look with oblong handles and soft corners, available with solid oak top.
BIG designed by Bjarke Ingels Group
Designed with the idea of using materials we are familiar with. The handles are made with the black fabric that car seat belts are made from, creating a modern approach to a kitchen door handles. Further modernising the design with a worktop choice of composite stone or stainless steel. Door fronts also in a choice of oak or white.
NORM designed by Norm Architects
A simple and timeless design with no handles, using a choice of materials, Fiber-concrete, bronzed tombac, sawn oak and smoked oak, that will not grow old and ugly but instead age with beautiful patina. The Bronzed tombac with slowly shine gold in areas of continuous wear.
HLA – Henning Larsen Architects
Inspired by classic kitchen carpentry with custom made elements. Available in two editions combining different elements, Oak veneer with a band of copper or white with the metal band spray painted in the same colour. The metal bands will patina over time due to regular use, becoming a thing of beauty.
