So often do I find furniture labelling with ‘Scandi or Nordic‘ in the title and it having little integrity or anything to do with the name. You can imagine it gets me quite frustrated. When discovering Nordic or Scandinavian inspired furniture I look for more than simple design aesthetics. Functionality, quality, thoughtful material sourcing, a connection with nature, clean lines and simple shapes are but some of the aspects I search for. I was happy to find that Heal’s has launched a range of Nordic inspired furniture with right amount of Scandinavian sensibility, style and quality. Here is the Morten Collection and I think it ticks all of the boxes.
On first glance the Morten Sofa and Arm Chairs look pretty huge with the bold curved lines but surprisingly they have relatively compact dimensions (details below). They can fit comfortably in almost any city apartment. Made from a solid pine frame, oak legs and soft wool upholstery, the seating in the Morten collection look perfectly modern, nordic and so cosy. The feeling of hygge does spring to mind.

To accompany the sofas in the Morten Collection are six stylishly simple oak items of furniture designed by John Jenkins. These include, a king size bed, wardrobe (available in store), bedside table, three drawer dresser, a tall five drawer dresser and a sideboard. The minimalist lines of this range are perfectly Nordic looking. Also the simplicity is matched with integrity with the range using white washed FSC certified oak.

“The Morten collection has been designed with the next generation of home owners in mind. Combining beauty, value and functionality, Morten has a Metropolitan feel, with elements of Scandinavian and mid 20th century design, both of which resonate with a young, design-aware customer.” – says John Jenkins
This range isn’t budget but neither does it have the high end price tag. It is affordable and achievable, considering the quality of materials it’s great value for money. I must say, my favourite pieces are the arm chair and the sideboard. I’d be interested to hear which items you like the best?!

Delightful minimalism and style. I am impressed with this house, I could live there permanently. For some people Scandinavian style it is too harsh and cood, but I think such interiors are cozy and just lovely! .
I love the bulbous shape of this sofa. Quite like the location too! x
The sofas have me very intrigued! Many a grey sofa has passed before my eyes, and in this same grained material. I have never batted an eyelid at them but here they are the stars of the show. The light, icy wood certainly does the sofa a favour, but the lines look so cosy and really accessorise this sofa with intrigue, that it appears they don’t even need cushions to make an impact. They are not merely canvasses but pieces of art in themselves.
Such beautiful collection, that bed looks SO cosy and inviting! It brings to mind a warm wood cabin in the Scandinavian countryside, now that would be nice! xx
I’m so in love with this new collection.. the contemporary urban shape, the Scandinavian influence, the wood grain .. would be right at home in my bedroom I think!
