*ad – this is a sponsored post in collaboration with Georg Jensen for the Kelly Wearstler Frequency collection. My job is to style products and write about design. I only ever work with brands that I recommend and trust.
Kelly Wearstler is the latest to collaborate with Georg Jensen. Running a multifaceted design studio, Kelly is one of the biggest names on the West coat of America, well known for her modern and expressive designs.
The Frequency collection evokes balance and motion. Inspired by nature which is a huge part of the LA lifestyle. In particular the waves of the Pacific ocean.
Scandinavian design so often looks to nature for reference. With Kelly’s uniquely American style the Frequency collection translates the these two worlds in perfectly polished steel.
“raw natural power and Nordic minimalism’
A ribbon of stainless steel runs through the collection, depicting the natural repetition of the water. Georg Jenson’s classical and impeccable craftsmanship is clear within these designs. Sculptural, timeless and well balanced.
I really had fun with the pieces. Styling them with wild natural branches foraged from the field near my home. Rather than my initial worry that the collection would be ‘showy’, the opposite happened and the shiny sculptural pieces gave my wild clippings a stage. Therefore they became …… balanced. The reflections in the polished steel softly illuminated the flowers making nature the show while echoing in the design.
My favourite piece is the medium bowl. Not surprising as it’s the most minimal design from the collection. Kelly’s clever balance of energetic waves with a soft shallow dish is understated yet wildly sculptural. A fun creative expression. And in my eyes this captures the LA and Scandinavian aesthetics perfectly.
