FRAMA studio store Copenhagen

During 3 days of design I attended a press breakfast at the recently refurbished Frama studio store in Copenhagen. Frama studio’s approach to design “signals a return to basics, where the design appearance aims to be honest and pure”. This pared back and focussed direction has created a portfolio of unique and recognisable products. Which I am totally in love with.

Frama studio have expanded their product design, creating more of a lifestyle concept. You may know their work from the permanent collection which includes lighting, furniture and accessories. At the Frama studio store I discovered a whole lot more! Kitchens and cabinets, fabrics, literature, cashmere apparel and their wonderfully scented st. pauls apothecary collection.

The Copenhagen store is located in an old apothecary (st pauls apothecary) with large and stunning original wooden cabinetry. This was the ideal place to present the new apothecary collection, aptly named st. pauls apothecary.

Handcrafted in Denmark with woody notes and ylang ylang, the cream and hand wash was so nice I had to sample it a few times! The product is of a high quality all the way through to the packaging. The glass bottles are made from Italian grey smoked glass and the labelling beautifully minimalistic.

St. pauls eau de parfum is also available with scents of sandalwood, cedar wood and lemongrass. This is totally on my wish list

Aj Otto stoneware collection (below), each piece handcrafted in Denmark. I love this idea of using one of the bowls as a plant pot.

This smoked glass mirror is attached to the wall enabling you to tilt and adjust it accordingly, perfect for a bedroom.

A new concept to the Frama studio is the introduction of the Cashmere collection created by Sophus Ritto. Maintaining a simple aesthetic the cashmere collection focusses on purity and the materials origin, Nepal. They are super soft and luxurious, available in long sleeves too.

The showroom space was designed so peacefully minimal, it works as a perfect juxtaposition against the apothecary cabinetry.

The first Frama product I had ever discovered was this Adam Stool designed by Toke Lauridsen. Reminiscent of the old science stools in school, I just love the proportions.

Frama studio kitchens are designed to be free standing, portraying each item as a piece of furniture within the kitchen environment. Made with solid materials, natural finishes and simple geometry, comprising of solid Douglas Fir drawers (below is stained wood, natural is also available), anthracite steel frame and Haché marble top.

The kitchen in the Copenhagen store is used regularly, a great example of how functional, hard wearing and well designed they are.

If you find yourself in Copenhagen you must pop by this store, it’s an inspiration. With more collaborations and products on the way, I can see the Frama Studio becoming quite a big name.
